GL 11+ · Verbal Reasoning · PDF
Every question type on the GL Verbal Reasoning paper, one chapter each. What it looks like, a method in five steps, a worked example with every wrong option explained, the three traps, and ten questions to circle. Then a timed test with the real answer sheet.
Also in The GL bundle: all four guides at £19.99 for 4 guides.
Who it is for
For a child in Year 4 or Year 5 sitting a GL Assessment 11+, and the parent helping at the kitchen table. Verbal Reasoning is usually the paper families have never seen before: twenty-three question types, each with its own trick, and the schools do not teach it. This book teaches the trick for each one, then makes the child practise it under the clock.

What is inside
Then the timed test, every answer with its reason, a glossary and a progress page.
A PDF, A4, made to read on a tablet or print at home. It is licensed to your household and every page carries your name and email, so please keep it in the family. Download it up to five times a month from the guides page; it stays on your account.
Card details are handled entirely by Stripe on their own pages. We never see or store a card number. Payment terms
Every practice question in the book was generated and checked by machine, then read by a person before it went in. The answers at the back give the reason for every one, so a child who gets a question wrong can see why, not just that. If you find a fault, email info@uplift-learning.co.uk and it will be corrected in the next edition.

Questions
The GL Assessment 11+ Verbal Reasoning paper, used by most grammar schools outside Essex and by many independent schools. It is not for the CSSE, which has no reasoning paper; for Essex the Maths and English guides are the right ones.
Yes, all twenty-three that GL uses, in five groups: making and changing words, letters and codes, numbers and sequences, words and meanings, and working it out from the facts. The timed test at the end draws two questions from every type.
Year 5, the year before the test. Questions 1 to 3 of every chapter are easier, so a Year 4 child can start, and questions 4 to 10 are at exam level.
