Payments
Plain English, no small print. What you pay, what happens when a lesson needs to move, and when money comes back.
These terms cover how payment works, what happens if a lesson needs to move, and when money is refunded. They apply to every lesson, block and mock exam booked with Uplift Learning.
One-to-one tuition is £24 per hour. Small group tuition is £17 per hour per student, in groups of no more than five, and runs only when enough students are at the same stage. A block of five lessons paid in advance is 10% off. An online mock exam is £25 per paper, or £65 for three papers taken across the year. The introductory 20-minute call is free and carries no obligation.

You can pay by bank transfer, by card, or by Apple Pay and Google Pay. Card payments are handled by Stripe and bank payments by Monzo. Card details are never entered on this website and I never see them. Ask me for bank details if you would prefer a direct transfer.
Single lessons are paid in advance, or immediately after the lesson if that suits you better. Blocks of five and mock exams are paid in advance. Lessons are not held open indefinitely without payment, but I will always ask before releasing a slot.
Life happens, and I would rather move a lesson than have a child sit one they are too tired or unwell to use. Give me at least 24 hours notice and there is no charge, and we will find another time that week where possible.
With less than 24 hours notice the lesson is charged in full, because the slot can rarely be filled at short notice. If your child is genuinely unwell I will use my discretion, and I would rather you told me than sent them anyway.
Cancel with at least 24 hours notice and any payment already made is refunded in full, or held as credit against a future lesson, whichever you prefer.
A block of five lessons is valid for four months from the first lesson in the block.
If you decide to stop before the block is used up, the lessons your child has already had are charged at the standard £24 rate rather than the discounted block rate, and the balance is refunded. That is the only fair way to do it, since the discount exists in exchange for the commitment.
A mock exam can be moved with at least 48 hours notice, since papers are prepared and an invigilation slot is held. Once a paper has been sat and marked it cannot be refunded, because the work has been done. If you cancel before the paper is sat, you are refunded in full.
If I cancel a lesson for any reason, you choose: a replacement lesson at a time that suits you, or a full refund. This applies however much notice I am able to give.
If your child joins late the lesson still ends at the scheduled time, because the next student is usually waiting. If I am late, the time is made up or the lesson is not charged.
Because lessons are booked at a distance, the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 give you the right to cancel within 14 days of booking, without giving a reason. If you ask for lessons to start within that 14-day period and then cancel, you pay only for the lessons already delivered and the rest is refunded.
Refunds go back by the same method you paid, normally within a few days and always within 14 days of me agreeing the refund. Card refunds can take a little longer to appear depending on your bank.
