GL 11+ · Non-Verbal Reasoning · PDF
The twelve question types the GL Non-Verbal Reasoning paper is built from, one chapter each, with the figures drawn as the paper draws them. A method for each, a worked example with every wrong option explained, the traps, ten questions to circle, and a timed test with the real answer sheet.
Also in The GL bundle: all four guides at £19.99 for 4 guides.
Who it is for
For a child who looks at a row of shapes and does not know where to start. Non-Verbal Reasoning is not taught at school and cannot be revised from a textbook, but every one of its twelve types has a fixed way in, and once a child has the way in they stop guessing. Every figure in the book is generated and checked, so the answer is always the one the rule gives.

Every practice question in the book was generated and checked by machine, then read by a person before it went in. The answers at the back give the reason for every one, so a child who gets a question wrong can see why, not just that. If you find a fault, email info@uplift-learning.co.uk and it will be corrected in the next edition.

Questions
The GL Assessment 11+ Non-Verbal Reasoning paper. GL sets NVR for most grammar schools outside Essex; the CSSE does not have a reasoning paper at all.
Yes. Odd one out, which belongs, what comes next, complete the pair, codes, missing square, reflections, rotations, hidden shapes, cube nets, counting cubes and paper folding, drawn in the plain black-line style the paper uses.
The method in each chapter is written to be read aloud, so a parent can teach it in five minutes; after that most children work through the ten questions on their own and mark them from the answers at the back.
