Who this book is for

For a child who reads well but scores unevenly: right on the facts, lost on the inference question, and dropping easy marks on spelling and punctuation. The GL English paper is multiple choice and fast, and its three reading question types each need a different habit. This book separates them, teaches each one, and gives fresh passages to practise on.

Which exam is this for?

The GL Assessment 11+ English paper. The CSSE English paper is different, with written answers and a writing task, and has its own guide.

Are the passages new?

Yes. The reading chapters use passages written for the book, and the timed test has a passage of its own that appears nowhere else, so a child cannot have seen it.

Does it cover the writing?

The GL English paper is multiple choice with no extended writing, so this book does not teach composition. The CSSE English guide does, in six chapters.
