How I collect, use and protect your information. Written in plain English, because you should not need a solicitor to understand what happens to your data.
On this page
Uplift Learning is a sole trader tuition service run by Mehar Singh, providing online one-to-one Maths and Science tuition. I am the data controller for any personal information described on this page.
You can reach me on WhatsApp at 07766 005271.
If you use the enquiry form on this website, I collect the information you type into it:
Please do not include medical details, or anything else sensitive, in the message box. If it is relevant we can discuss it directly.
I will have your phone number, your name as it appears on your account, and the messages you send. WhatsApp itself is operated by Meta and has its own privacy policy.
To teach effectively I keep basic records: your child's first name, year group, the topics we are working on, notes on their progress, and your contact details for scheduling and updates.
This is a simple website. I do not run advertising trackers or analytics on it. My hosting provider may keep standard server logs, which usually include IP addresses, as part of running the service securely.
I do not sell your information, and I do not send marketing emails.
Quiz results never leave your device. The free practice quizzes on this site are marked entirely inside your browser. Scores and attempt history are saved using your browser's local storage, on that device only.
I do not receive them, I cannot see them, and they are not sent to any server. Clearing your browser data deletes them permanently.
The only exception is the "Send my results to Mehar" button. That opens WhatsApp with a message you can choose to send. Nothing is shared unless you press send.
Running the site and lessons means a few other companies process small amounts of information:
Each has its own privacy policy. I share only what is needed to provide the service, and never for advertising.
You can ask me to delete your information sooner at any time.
I teach children, so I take this seriously. I only hold what is genuinely needed to teach: usually a first name, year group and progress notes.
Enquiries should come from a parent or guardian, not from a child. If a child contacts me directly I will ask to speak to a parent before going further. A parent may exercise all the rights below on their child's behalf.
Please also read my safeguarding statement, which covers how lessons are conducted safely.
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
Just message me and I will deal with it within one month, free of charge.
If you are unhappy with how I have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
This website sets no tracking or advertising cookies. There is nothing to consent to, which is why you will not see a cookie banner.
The practice quizzes use your browser's local storage to remember your scores on your own device, as described in section 4. That data is not a cookie, is never transmitted, and you can clear it at any time through your browser settings.
If I change how I handle information I will update this page and change the date at the top. If the change is significant I will tell current families directly.
Ask me anything about this policy, or request a copy or deletion of your information.
